
Princess Margaret Itake Elayo, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, has received the African Iconic Award 2025 for Best Female Performing Commissioner in Nigeria.
The award ceremony, which took place at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, was given to the Commissioner due to her dedication to public service.
The Commissioner has made significant impacts in Nasarawa State, particularly in her roles as Commissioner for Special Duties on Humanitarian Services and NGOs and Commissioner for Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services before taking the recent responsibility in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
In her previous portfolios, she supported vulnerable populations with food l and cash assistance to enable them to live a worthwhile life and cushion the effects of the hardships they were going through.

Princess Elayo supported her principal, Governor Abdullahi Sule, in implementing policies and programs that benefited students and educators in the state.
Reacting to the honor done to her, Princess Elayo expressed gratitude to the organizers and her principal for the platform to serve the people of the state.
She also thanked the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and the people of Nasarawa State for the support and cooperation she had received in the last two years while serving the state and pledged to continue making a positive impact.
The African Iconic Award recognizes Princess Elayo’s commitment to excellence in public service and her potential to inspire positive change in Nasarawa State.
