An International NGO Partners Plateau Govt. to Strengthen Governance, Rule of Law

Hon. O. J. Afwanks, the Special Adviser on Budget to the Executive Governor of Plateau State has hosted International IDEA, an International Non governmental organization (INGO), who were in his office in Rayfield, Jos to seek areas of collaboration and partnership.

Presenting their mission in the State, Mr. Pwanakzi Mantim Dala, Coordinator ROLAC who spoke on behalf of the INGO said they were in Plateau State to strengthen the structures and processes of governance and rule of law.


He said the partnership aims to promote access to justice, transparency and accountability in governance.

Mr. Dala stated that a 22 member steering committee has been constituted, comprising of key actors in the justice system and CSOs to provide a roadmap for the full implementation of the project from now to 2027.

He maintained that the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning is a key stakeholder in the project, which necessitated their visit to the Special Adviser whom they believe will help midwife the process of strengthening governance in the state

In his response, Hon. O.J. Afwanks commended the International IDEA for choosing Plateau State to implement the project, as he assured them of his unflinching support for the success of the project.


He said the Governor Bar Caleb Mutfwang is open to partnering with well meaning CSOs/NGOs that want to add value to governance and enhance the quality of life of the citizens.

He said the Governor signed into the Open Government Partnership (OGP) which promotes openness and accountability and as such government publishes budget Performance online and has involved citizens in governance through citizens Engagement and Participatory budgeting process among others
