The Young Progressives Party, (YPP), National body has passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan who is the only member of the party in the State Assembly.
Comrade Bishop Amakiri, National Chairman of the party gave Dewan the pass mark when he led other national officials of the party on a courtesy visit to the Speaker in his office at the Plateau State House of Assembly complex in Jos on Tuesday.
The national chairman while addressing the Assembly press crew shortly after a fruitful discussion with the speaker and a tour of the ongoing renovation work at the complex, expressed satisfaction with the speaker for demonstrating the party’s ideology in his leadership.
He said they were in the state to see what difference has the speaker brought to Plateau State and they are impressed.
“Not just politics, but governance, governance as a legislative arm of government. And we have seen the dividend of that. We are so excited, very overwhelm with what we saw today.” He said.

He urged Plateau State citizens to continue to support people who are coming with such kind of service to humanity. He noted that the speaker is an agent of transformation who is actually representing the party’s ideology.
“Our slogan as a party is service to the people. So we are impressed and we will continue to pray for him. In fact, let me stand here and say from what we have seen, we are given him vote of confidence that he is capable of steering the ship of the legislative arm of government in Plateau State.” He said.

The party encouraged the speaker to continue to be focus and not to mix politics with governance as they described his emergence as an act of providence by God.
Comrade Amakiri also appreciated the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for allowing democracy to strive and prayed that he continue to uphold the cordial working relationship with all the arms of government in the state.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan appreciated the national executive of his party for the visit where he used the visit to reaffirmed his membership and loyalty to the party, debunking the speculation that he has joined the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP).
Rt. Hon. Dewan enumerated some of his legislative and administrative achievement since assumption of office as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly last year to the national executive of his party.
