
Ahead of Christmas celebration, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has been called upon to negotiate with the leadership of Nigerian labour congress by responding to their demands amidst economic crisis in the country.
The senior pastor of Victory Life Baptist Church Lafia, Rev. Akusa Gajere made the appeal during the 2024 Harvest Thanksgiving service and end of the year celebration with the theme. “God is faithful” held at the church premises in millionaire quarters Lafia, Nasarawa state capital.
Our correspondent reports that Rev. Akusa called on government at all levels to urgently to initiate policies and programs to alleviate abject poverty and high cost of living among Nigerians by reconsidering policies that trigger poverty in the land.
It was a moment of joy, exaltation and exchange of pleasantries at the victory life Baptist Church Lafia, were members of the church dressed colorfully both young and old to appreciate God Almighty as songs of ministrations took a center stage to mark the 2024 Harvest,Thanksgiving service and the end of year celebration with the theme “God is faithful”
In his remarks,the senior pastor of the church, Rev. Akusa Gajere said many Nigerians are suffering calling on the Federal and the state governments to reconsider their unfavorable policies and programs that are always bringing untold hardship to many Nigerians
According to him the economic instability continues to bite harder as many Nigerians are sinking deeper into the sea of abject poverty due to the rising cost of living in Nigeria, noting that concrete measures should be taken for a better life in Nigeria.
Reverend Gajere said Nigerian youths are migrating to other countries while others are engaging into various social vices triggering insecurity in the country,the Man of God called on the authorities to reconsider the plight of the masses and alleviate their sufferings for peace and national development.
He said workers are presently on strike demanding better pay and the implementation of a new minimum wage, Reverend Akusa also appealed to Governor Abdullahi sule to negotiate with the leadership of Nigerian labour by responding to their demand for the interest of all ahead of Christmas celebration.
Delivering the sermon the Guest Preacher at the event, Rev. Bulus Ali charged the Christian community in Nasarawa state not give up over the devastating situation of poverty and hardship being experienced in the country stating that it will pass with time.
Taking his Bible reading from Deuteronomy 7 to 9 with the theme “God is faithful” Rev. Ali told the congregation to always remember the faithfulness of God upon their lives, hence the need to appreciate him no matter the difficulties and be contented with what they have to celebrate Christmas.
Also speaking,the chairman of sport writers Association of Nigeria SWAN who is the chairman organizing committee of the event, Mr Smah George appreciated the church council and other members for their cooperation and support for the success of the event.
Highlight of the Harvest Thanksgiving and end of the year celebration was Drama presentation and prayer for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
