Comrade Alhassan Yahaya has emerged as the new National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.
Comrade Alhassan was declared winner by the NUJ Credentials Committee Chairman, Comrade Mike Ikeogu after polling a total of 436 votes at the 8th Triennial National delegates’ Conference, held at Rockview Hotel in Owerri, Imo State on Wednesday.
Comrade Alhassan defeated 2 other candidates in the keenly contested election after the expiration of the tenure of the Comrade Chris Isiguzo lead administration.
Barr. Dele Atunbi the incumbent National Treasurer of the union became distantly far with 97 votes, while Comrade Muhammad Garba got 39.
Comrade Alhassan Yahya from Gombe State was a former Chairman of Gombe State Council of the NUJ and the National Vice President of the union.
