An International NGO Partners Plateau Govt. to Support Primary Schools

The Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Plateau State on Budgeting, Hon Obadiah J. Afwanks had led a delegation from Hello International, an International Non Governmental  Organisation (INGO) based in USA to Kwahas- Bungha in Mangu and Ngwak in Kwatas, Bokkos LGAs respectively on a site visit to the areas preparatory to a 3 month pilot project on National Home grown School Feeding Program.

The Team was first received by the Education Secretaries of the respective LGAs before moving to the schools where they were warmly welcomed by pupils and the community members who could not hide their joy for the consideration and support.

The country Director of Hello International, Mrs. Maureen through Dr Francis stated that the INGO has chosen 3 States in Nigeria for the home grown school feeding project which includes Plateau, Ekiti and Enugu. 

She said after the 3 months pilot scheme in these 2 LGAs, the Team will move down to southern Plateau and will round up the pilot test in Northern zone before the full implementation.

The community leaders of both Bokkos and Mangu LGAs were full of joy for this rare privilege. They said these schools were built through Community efforts as they lamented that Ngwak Kwatas ward, Bokkos LGA school was destroyed by windstorm. 

Hon. Afwanks empathized with  the people, maintaining that Government will look into the matter with a hope of repairing it so that the pupils can go back to the school.

The Special Adviser was accompanied by the Director of Administration in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Aliyu and Rita Mwaltok Desk Officer NHGSFP-  SUBEB.
