Nasarawa Assembly Crisis : More Members elect Dump Ogazi Faction

Speaker of the Nasarawa State Seventh House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi has sworn in 3 members- elect who have left the Daniel Ogazi led faction.

Administering oath of office  and allegiance on the members elect during  an emergency sitting at the State Ministry of Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs in Lafia, the speaker called on the legislators to be committed to peace and development of the state.

Among the three members elect sworn is Deputy Speaker of the Daniel Ogazi faction.

The three members elect to the Nasarawa State Seventh Assembly who had dumped the Daniel Ogazi led group include Mohammed Oyanki PDP Doma North, Ovey John PDP Keffi East and  Hudu A. Hudu APC Awe North.

In a remark after the inauguration of the three members elect, the Speaker Mr Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi called on the lawmakers to pay more attention to issues aimed at entrenching sustainable development of the state.

While commending the lawmakers for their decision to present themselves to be sworn in, Ibrahim Balarabe assured them of equal treatment and opportunities as members of the state house of assembly for the common good of the people of Nasarawa State.

” I congratulate all of you. It is a demonstration of love for our state and our people.

” We have resolved collectively to partner His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule in order to bring speedy development to communities across the state. 

” We have given our commitment to our people to solicit for development to our various constituencies, hence the need to effectively partner with His Excellency, ” he said.

In an interview, the member representing Doma North state Constituency Mr. Mohammed Oyanki of the Peoples Democratic Party, said he decided  to  dump the other group where he was elected deputy speaker in the interest of peace, unity and development.

He called on the remaining members to  toe the path of peace and submit themselves to be sworn in by the speaker of the house, Ibrahim Balarabe to give their constituents sense of belonging.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Legislative Liaison  who is also a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Mr David Maiyaki  said the three members had demonstrated high sense of patriotism and being sensitive to the yearnings of the people. 

Large crowd of supporters, family members and associates witnessed the swearing in of the members elect.
