
Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency PLASCHEMA, has created an Enterprise Resource Development Unit under the office of the Director General of the Agency in order to improve their services to Plateau State citizens.
The Director General of the agency, Dr. Jemchang Fabong, disclosed this today during the training of staff inducted into the new unit. He noted that the training was to among other things enlightened the staff on what they ought to do because they consider the new unit as the brain of the agency.
He emphasized the need to take strategic development plans and effective communication seriously to achieve the desired goals and objectives of the agency hence, the need for the establishment of the new unit in October last year.
The agency DG said already, some of their staff had attended trainings online with expert from different countries, which has build their capacity and are already equipped with requisite knowledge that enabled the agency to create the new unit without spending much on training.
According to him most of them are stepping down the knowledge gained from the trainings to ensure that no staff is left out.
Mr. Kim Tiri who the Head of the newly created Enterprise Resource Development Unit, said creation of the unit was necessitated the quest to add value to the agency and the society.
“It became pertinent that we come out with new strategy of doing things because when you run something over and over, using the same method and you don’t achieve any form of improvement, so the DG thought it wise to actually come up with the unit that will be saddle with the responsibility of initiating planning and monitoring the intellectual resource based of the agency so that we can enhance collaboration between the various departments and units that we have and even external organizations.” He said.
According to him the unit is also responsible for research and training to improve the capacity of staff and to enable them discharge their responsibility effectively with little supervision, which according to him will equally show prudent management of resources.
One of the resource persons, Zakiyah Zumunta who is the Public Relations Officer of the agency, took the staff on “Basic of Communication and Strategic Communication”. She stressed on the need for them to be strategic in planning and know that they are dealing with different kind of people.
“So communication is key hence, you should be able to identify your target audience and to also understand the channels of communication to your target audience.” She emphasized.
The training which was more of a family discussion, had the staff exposed to Core mandate and service area of the unit, Basics of Communication and Strategic Communication, Strategic thinking and Conflict Management” among others.
The participants freely engaged the resource persons during questions and answers sessions and they expressed their zeal to kickstart the unit in a very high spirit.
