Despite Losing Election, Plateau Lawmaker Empowers Constituents

A State Lawmaker in Plateau State has surprised his constituents with millions of naira empowerment packages despite Losing reelection bid in the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

Hon. Amurudu Usaini who is representing Bokkos State constituency at the Plateau State House of Assembly, rolled out the empowerment pack at Bokkos local government council Secretariat as the second phase of his constituency project for the year. 

He said the greatest assets he has are his constituents who by grace he is representing, noting that winning or losing election is in the hands of God and it was God that gave him the first mandated through the people’s vote which he is holding so dearly. 

This time, the lawmaker undertook the massive empowerment program in collaboration with the Plateau State Microfinance Development Agency, PLASMIDA, and intimate the constituents that his next empowerment programme will be in education. 

Making the symbolic distribution of the items, the Honorable member, said empowering his people is part of the social contract he entered into with them, noting that in or out of office, he will continue to be of service to them.

Senior Administration and Finance Officer of PLASMIDA, Mr. Joseph Sunkur who represented his Agency at the event described the empowerment programme as laudable and in line with their agency’s mandate of poverty eradication. 

Bokkos local government council Chairman, Hon. Joseph Guluwa lauded the lawmaker for positively impacting the socio-economic lives of his Constituents.

Speaking on behalf of some of the beneficiaries, Polycarp Emmanuel, a physical challenged and Felicia Ajamok, a farmer, all appreciated the lawmaker’s magnanimity and prayed God to be kind to him.

Many personalities, including traditional rulers that spoke during the event clearly stated their admiration for the parliamentarian for delivering dividends of democracy to his people, despite losing his return bid to the State Legislature.

Items distributed by the lawmaker  alongside his wife, Mrs Gloria to the Constituents regardless of their Political parties across the 14 Federal wards of Bokkos LGA were, 1,200 bags of assorted fertilizer, 70 Water pumps and 25 grinding machines. 

Others were 68 wheel chairs, 8 sewing machines, 2 shoe making machines and 10,000 naira small scale business starter packs each to 1,200 beneficiaries.

It would be recalled that in February this year, it took the member and his entourage 3 days to commission projects executed by him as his constituency projects, ranging from Schools, Clinics, Water, Culverts, transformers among others that are of benefits to all the communities across the 14 Federal wards.
