
A traditional ruler in Plateau State has been reportedly killed by bandits in Wase local government area of the state on Monday night.
This is coming barely two weeks that armed men attacked and killed another Community leader with dozen of residents in Bokkos local government area of the state.
Member representing Wase Federal Constituency at the National Assembly who is also the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase condemned the gruesome murder of the village head of Nyalum, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Umar Muhammad Puma, the Deputy Speaker said, “I’m deeply touched and devastated by the news of the killing of the village head of Nyalum Alh. Muhammadu Sanusi”.
Wase regretted the cruel and gruesome manner which the traditional ruler was reportedly killed by the suspected bandits, noting that it called for serious concern.
He acknowledged the concerted efforts of security agencies to rid the communities of criminal elements, but stressed the need for special attention to be accorded the area.
The deputy speaker charged security agencies to go after all criminal elements in communities and scale up intelligence gathering, calling for community volunteering and participation in the process.
“The security operatives must not rest on their oars in fishing out the perpetrators. I call on security agencies in the state to spare nothing in ensuring that justice prevails for the victim’s family and the people of Plateau State.” he said.
Wase also asked the security agencies to put measures in place to ensure that such avoidable deaths and attacks are brought to an end.
While extending his sincere condolences to the people and government of Plateau state, Wase urged citizens to see these attacks on their lives and livelihood as a challenge to their rights to exist and live as free citizens.
The Deputy Speaker prayed Allah to forgives the shortcomings of the late traditional ruler and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
Report from the Community had it that the bandits stormed the area on motorcycles on Monday night and stated shooting sporadically before gaining access to the village head residence.
Sources says the bandits also gun down two other residents and carted away many motorcycles belonging to residents of the area.
