The Newly inducted President of the Church of Christ in Nations COCIN, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo has urged all Christians to defend themselves within legally allowed means as the security situation in the country is deteriorating.
In his inaugural speech at the Headquarters of the Church in Jos, Plateau State, the Clergy emphasized that self-defense is allowed worldwide.
He said while the Church support the government in its effort to bring lasting solution to the problems of insecurity in the country, citizens must also remain relentless and resilient in watchfulness and prayer.
“I call upon our government to work hard to curtail the dangerous activities of criminality in the country” he added.
The President who sees his emergence as purely the grace of God, said he will do his best in making decisions in council and to take into account contributions of teammates at various levels of the Church.
“I know you are expecting much from me. I can feel your yearning and desire. COCIN is my Church, your Church, and our Church. I have confidence in God’s promise, for he said, “Not might nor power, but my Spirit, ‘says the Lord Almighty.” We will continue with the legacy of our parents. He said.
On his part, the out-gone President, Rev. Prof. Dachollom Datiri while making his retirement speech, thanked God for seeing him through in the ministry He called and send him to work in.
He equally appreciated all members of the various congregations he served as pastor, the entire COCIN family and guest who honoured the invitation.
He admonished the Church that it must work in love and unity to deal with tribalism, sectionalism and other vices that are hindering Church Growth.
The former COCIN President asked for forgiveness to anyone he had offended in the course of his work and said he has forgiven anyone who had offended him also.
He appealed for wholehearted support from Church members for his successor to succeed and for the betterment of the Church.
