The Chief Executive Officer of Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, IHVN and an aspirant for the 2023 Governorship Election in Plateau State, Associate Professor Patrick Dakum have appealed to religion leaders in the state to encourage members of their congregations on active participation in politics.
Dakum who is also the Chairman of Literature Committee of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, was speaking on Wednesday at the ongoing 100 General Church Council of the Church before the official Dedication of the Church Literature books and devotionals for 2022 by the Church President, Rev. Prof. Dachollom Datiri at the Headquarters Church in Jos, Plateau State.
While stressing the need for the Church to always have an engagement with the government, he reminded them that in one way or the other the Church members are in government and are decision makers of the government hence, the need for the Church to be engaging them.
He said all Christians are expected to join any political party of their choice to select good candidates in order to shine the light of God in the political space and not just to get voters card.
The IHVN Boss and APC gubernatorial hopeful said failure to get membership and voter’s card by a Christian is a sin because the Bible says he who know the right thing but failed to do it is a sinner.
Aside politics, Asso. Prof. Dakum enjoined the Church to make deliberate effort in taking good care of widows of Pastors in order to ease their plight.
