Jubilation in Langtang North as PDP Reinstated Chairman Resume Office

Report says there is jubilation in Langtang North LGA Secretariat of Plateau State as the reinstated Council Chairman, Joshua Ubandoma Laven of PDP resumed office Thursday morning.
The report has it that supporters of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP accompanied the reinstated Chairman with drums singing and dancing for his victory in Court and subsequent resumption to office.
Laven had challenge the conduct of election in his local government on the ground that his three years tenure will elapsed by 2022 and not 2021.
The Chairman had earlier in a motion to the court through his counsel, Mr. Niri Darong in the state high court said his action was pursuant to order 42 and 43 of the Plateau State High Court (civil procedure) rule 2020, section 7 of constitution of the Federal Government 1999 (as amended).
Laven explained that Plateau State Local Government Council Election Appeal Tribunal declared him as duly elected Chairman of Langtang North Local Government on July 19,2019.
He said PLASIEC then issued him with a certificate of return on Oct. 17, 2019 while Gov. Simon Lalong administered the oath of Allegiance and oath of Office on him on Oct. 9, 2019.
Based on that, his tenure as Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council under section 38 of the Plateau Local Government Council Law, 2016, is for three years, effective from the date he took the oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office.
It would be recalled that on Tuesday Nov. 2, 2021 the Plateau State High Court in Jos in a judgment delivered by Justice Ishaku Kunda upheld that the tenure of Joshua Ubandoma Laven would elapsed in October 2022, therefore, he should be reinstated into office.
